Plums are the second most cultivated fruit in Moldova. The total area of plum’s orchards cover about 30 thousand hectares, while annual exports include 80 thousand tons of plums, both fresh and dried. The plums are resistant to transportation and can be kept in cold storage without changing the taste. Moreover, the fruits of plum are used in the manufacture of the confectionery-“chocolate plums”.
